There are 4 possible rhythms you could see

• Shockable
  • Ventricular fibrillation
  • Pulseless tachycardia
• Non-shockable
  • Pulseless electrical activity
  • Asystole

Shockable rhythm⚡

• Pulseless Ventricular tachycardia

  • Very broad complexes >160 ms
  • Note - VT can present in patients with a pulse (ie not in cardiac arrest), and should therefore treated as a tachyarrhythmia, not a cardiac arrest
    • Treatment of VT with a pulse can be found in Ventricular Tachycardia

  

• Ventricular fibrillation

  

Non-shockable rhythm

• Pulseless electrical activity (all electrical activity except VF/VT, including sinus rhythm without a pulse)

  

• Asystole (no significant electrical activity)
